Research Science Institute (RSI) at MIT

This is an extremely prestigious program that takes 100 high school students each summer to get involved in a science & engineering program that is cost-free to students. Participants experience detailed research  from start to finish and execute a detailed research plan while also reading current literature in their fields. Applicants of this program should be in the middle of their junior year of highschool. It is encouraged however not required to have a PSAT score of at least 740 in math and 700 in reading-writing. Similarly, ACT math scores are expected to be at least 33 and verbal at least 34. You will need to submit an essay, high-school transcript, all standardized test scores, two teacher recommendations (math/science/research supervisor), and there is a maximum of 4 recommendations.  Applications are not currently open but be on the lookout.
